How We Authenticate Every Timepiece

In the pre-owned luxury watch market, trust is everything. A single counterfeit piece can undermine a collector's confidence and erode the integrity of an entire marketplace. At Maison Soletti, authentication is not a step in our process — it is the foundation upon which our entire business is built. Every timepiece that enters our collection undergoes a comprehensive 12-point inspection before it is offered to our clients.

The process begins with a detailed visual examination under 10x magnification. Our horologists assess the case for correct proportions, finishing quality, and the subtle hallmarks that distinguish genuine manufacture from even the most sophisticated replicas. Dial printing is scrutinized for font consistency, alignment, and the micro-level precision that counterfeiters consistently fail to replicate. Hands are examined for correct lume application, finishing, and proportion relative to the dial. The bezel, crown, and caseback each receive individual attention, with reference checks against manufacturer databases for each specific model and production year.

Beyond the exterior, the movement tells the definitive story. Our certified watchmakers open each caseback to inspect the caliber against known specifications: bridge finishing, jewel count, rotor engravings, and serial number placement must all correspond exactly to the claimed reference. We photograph the movement at high magnification for our records and for the client's documentation. Any inconsistency — a replaced part, an incorrect screw, a non-original dial — is disclosed transparently. We do not sell watches that cannot be verified to our standards.

Documentation and provenance form the final pillars of our authentication. Original boxes, warranty cards, purchase receipts, and service records are verified where available. Serial numbers are cross-referenced to confirm they have not been reported stolen or flagged by manufacturer databases. For vintage pieces, where original documentation may have been lost to time, we rely on the physical evidence of the watch itself, supplemented by historical research into production records and known variations.

The result of this process is not just a watch — it is a guarantee. Every timepiece from Maison Soletti comes with our Certificate of Authenticity, a detailed condition report, and our commitment to stand behind every piece we sell. In a market where confidence is the ultimate luxury, we believe that rigorous authentication is the greatest service we can offer our clients.
